Conference on Engineering Materials -
Evaluation, Flaw Detection and ProcessingThursday and Friday, May 17-18, 2012
Come to the second biennial conference on Engineering Materials - Evaluation, Flaw Detection and Processing featuring two distinct tracks: The research track focusing on original research work and an applications track discussing industrial issues relating to materials.
This conference concentrates on recent developments, discoveries, modeling, testing and evaluation of engineering materials, smart materials and their processing. Professional Engineers (PEs) can earn Professional Development Hours by attending.
The goal of our conference is to bring together people with knowledge of engineering materials from academia and industry to discuss how properties of materials and processing methods can affect products made from those materials.
The conference starts Thursday, May 17th with a choice of two workshops: Detection of Structural Flaws Using Modal Vibration Testing* in Crothers Engineering Hall, room 251 from 8:00 to 12:00 or the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Workshop** from 10:00-12:00 in Crothers Engineering Hall, room 223.
Following the workshops, the METLAB will host an Open House in Crothers Engineering Hall, Room 232 from 2:00 - 4:00. METLAB will host a reception in the SDSU Alumni Association Building Thursday evening from 6:00 - 9:00, where people can pick up their conference packets for the Keynote and sessions scheduled for Friday, May18.
The conference resumes at 8:00 A.M. Friday morning in the SDSU Student Union with a keynote address by ASME fellow and former NASA researcher Dr. Hamid Hamidzadeh. Breakout sessions in two tracks will follow the keynote address. The first track is dedicated to original research. The second track addresses practical aspects of materials evaluation and processing. Click here for the agenda.
*Conference registration is required to attend this workshop.
**There is no cost or registration required to attend the SBIR conference, but attendees are asked to email Laura.Bremer@sdstate.edu so we know how many people to expect.
